Building Bird houses with 99 Girl scouts…not a typo….99 of them expected through the day…..HELP! :)

This Tuesday, July 13, 8:30am-3:30pm, Sisters in the Building Trades will be at the Girl Scout Soundview Day Camp at Saltwater State Park in Des Moines.

Note*

We need 7-10 Sister volunteers to give girls, ages 6-12, lessons in very basic carpentry, blueprint reading and safety, making birdhouses for the girls to paint and take home. A beautiful park, a full day of fun, and the chance to show girls how cool working with tools can be.

Project: Birdhouses from pre-cut cedar using. Please bring your tools! We need them to share with the girls, and to provide extra info on leveling, squaring, etc. We will provide the wood, nails, safety glasses, blueprints, paint and paintbrushes.

A couple notes and reminders – lunch and beverages will be provided. Proper attire is required. No need to tell most of you that – these are Girl Scouts, after all, and we’re setting an example, but there has been a request that everyone wear shoes, no flip flops or short shorts, etc.

If you have any questions, please contact Stacia Jenkins (Sisters Board member and Girl Scout leader) or 206.779.9540. If you’re planning on coming, please confirm with Stacia, so we have a lunch and volunteer count.
